The Project

Cooking Space West operates from Footscray, Melbourne, where preparation and production drive consistent power use through daylight hours. MetroElectro is now nearing completion of a rooftop solar array at the facility, fully funded with no upfront spend required from the business. Matched to usable roof area and daily load shape, the system will produce clean electricity on the roof for direct use inside the building.

What Was Holding Things Back

• Capital belonged in the operation: funding panels, inverters and installation outright would have diverted money from staff, equipment and day-to-day running, which is where many solar plans lose momentum.
• Full exposure to grid movement: relying entirely on retail supply left future costs open ended, with little control beyond using less.

How It Was Structured

• Funded and delivered end to end: MetroElectro designs, installs, owns and runs the whole array, so the site did not need to finance or procure hardware.
• No extra workload: performance, upkeep and long-term operation remain with MetroElectro, with cover for the life of the assets, leaving nothing additional for the site team to look after.
• Clearer costs plus wider upside: energy is supplied on a simple pay-for-use basis that supports steadier pricing in a rising market, alongside stronger resilience and sustainability standing with customers and staff.

What It Brings
